The Evaluation and Education Center

The Evaluation and Education Center was established in 1984 through the efforts of a group of Kuwaiti women who realized that their children were suffering from learning difficulties, and they did not find anyone to advise them locally to treat these problems, so they turned to the United Kingdom and the United States, where the children’s cases could be diagnosed and the necessary programs could be obtained for them

The problems of these children generally focus on difficulties in reading, spelling, writing, and arithmetic, as many of them find obstacles due to difficulty reading (dyslexia), difficulty with motor coordination (dyspraxia), difficulty writing (dysgraphia), or difficulty with mathematics (dyscalculia), and often a complex mixture of these conditions. Some of them also suffer from other difficulties in concentration and attention, hyperactivity, and other behavioral, social, and emotional problems

Today, the new building of the Child Evaluation and Education Center is located in the Surra area. It was built entirely with funds from donors who believe in the importance of the role of the center, which has aimed since its inception to not limit its services to supporting people with learning difficulties, but rather extend its services to include their families, teachers, and other related professions to overcome the challenges posed by learning difficulties

The center provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals with learning difficulties, in addition to providing specialized training and raising awareness of learning difficulties in the local and regional environment.  The center exerts great efforts at the local, regional and global levels, as it is interested in exchanging information – based on scientific foundations – in Arabic and English with various parties to achieve its goals in the field of raising awareness, preparing specialists, exchanging experiences on the best methods of diagnosis and education, and providing support to individuals so that they can contribute fully and positively to society

Then, this group saw the importance of establishing a center in Kuwait to diagnose cases of children with learning difficulties and provide them with appropriate educational treatment. Indeed, the center was established and registered as a public benefit association in the Shuwaikh area with the help of family and friends, to help children with learning difficulties.

The center began its work and activities as a public benefit association in 1984 in the Shuwaikh area. The center continued its work for approximately 23 years in the Shuwaikh area until the center moved to its new building in the Surra area at the beginning of the 2006/2007 academic year.
