The Technical College of Communications and Information was established in Jeddah in 1391 AH, under the name of the Institute of Wired and Wireless Communications, then the College of Communications. Both were affiliated with the Ministry of Post, Telegraph and Telephone, where they served the ministry by preparing qualified technical personnel to work in the Saudi Telephone in various specializations.
The college was then affiliated with the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training, due to the rapid development in electronics and the increasing demand of factories and institutions, both governmental and private, for technical personnel with high technical expertise, and the need to focus on training in electronic technology.
Specific specializations are created in an effort to implement the strategic plans of the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training, which aim to provide advanced technical and vocational training and prepare technical personnel with creative talents that serve society and contribute to the renaissance and development of the nation.
