Shaqra University is one of the newest Saudi universities to be established by a royal decree, with the Ministry of Education as its administrative authority. Royal Decree No.  (7305/M B, dated 9/3/1430 AH) was issued  to establish Shaqra University, based on the keenness of the Kingdom’s government and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may God protect him – to advance the field of education in general and university education in particular.

The university, along with other universities, aspires to achieve its general objectives, which are: preparing and developing the national human resource, providing qualified and trained personnel to meet development requirements and the needs of the labor market, enriching the scientific research movement, and developing postgraduate studies to meet societal issues and development needs, and to achieve the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision  2030.

Shaqra University has established its vision, mission, and objectives through a solid and well-established methodology. It has developed its strategic plan to keep pace with the rapid progress in the field of education, while taking into consideration the standards of excellence, leadership, and quality of performance.

The university is looking forward to expanding the admission of high school students whenever possible, and implementing different types of education. It will also open more scientific colleges during the ninth plan to meet the development need for qualified national manpower. The university currently includes  (24)  colleges distributed in several governorates and centers west and north of Riyadh.
