Companies Registration Department - Ministry of Commerce
The Companies Registration Department is one of the most important departments in the Ministry of Commerce, responsible for registering and following up on Iraqi and foreign companies. Its headquarters is in Baghdad, Al-Mansour – Damascus Street.
Duties of the Companies Registration Department
1. Establishing Iraqi companies (public, joint-stock, limited, and individual).
2. Opening branches of foreign companies in Iraq.
3. Registering commercial agencies and granting licenses to commercial agents.
4. Monitoring the work of Iraqi joint-stock companies (private and mixed).
5. Monitoring the work of Iraqi private companies (limited and individual).
6. Monitoring the work of Iraqi public companies.
7. Documenting complete information about companies and their founders, and the decisions taken by company owners, preparing strategic and operational plans, noting asset freezes, seizures, and confiscation orders against shareholders and companies, and issuing a weekly bulletin with the decisions of the Companies Registrar.
8. Issuing capital increase decisions / Studying the final accounts of national companies / Disclosing company headquarters in Baghdad and the governorates / Merging the accounts of the establishment period / Studying liquidation, merger, and transformation accounts / Studying the accounts of foreign company offices and branches / Studying the accounts of foreign companies at the head office / Auditing receipts.
9. Monitor and implement the regulations and laws related to the department’s work.
