Institutes of Islamic Sciences
Every Institute is supervised by the (director of the Institute), and the institutes functions and competences are the following:
Acting in accordance with establishment laws and according to the rules and regulations issued by the Diwan and the resolutions and recommendations of the Council of the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Islamic Culture.
Educating a generation of a Muslim Omani youth conscious of the right concepts of Islam, loyal to their homeland and Sultan, according to the adopted curricula and plans.
Providing students studying in the institute with knowledge based on the principles of Islam.
Providing an educational learning environment for students.
Providing all the tools and aids for teachers and learners.
All other tasks assigned to the institutes in the scope of their competence
Vision and Mission
Vision: To contribute to the cultural, scientific, educational and research fields with Omani authenticity and contemporary thought, achieving leadership and a local and international standing.
Mission: To work to enrich the fields of thought, culture, science, research, and cultural and civilizational communication locally and globally, to consolidate the Omani identity and Omani thought, to support and publish scientific research and studies, to provide educational services, and to establish cultural and scientific cooperation relations with similar specialized institutions and centers inside and outside the Sultanate.
Why was the center established?
The center was established to achieve several objectives in accordance with the vision of His Majesty – may God protect and preserve him – the most important of which are:
Contributing to achieving the Sultanate’s goals in the fields of culture and science.
Strengthening ties and cooperation with similar cultural, scientific, academic institutions and specialized centers in other countries.
Working to promote Omani culture, disseminate the fruits of Omani cultural and scientific thought, and open the way for other cultures to benefit from it.
Contribute to instilling and developing Omani values, encouraging a culture of dialogue with other religions and cultures, and working to consolidate common principles and values.
Participate in highlighting the Sultanate’s cultural, scientific and civilizational heritage at the regional and international levels.
Contributing to the study of the Sultanate’s needs for knowledge, skills and expertise in various cultural and scientific fields.
How can the center achieve the above goals?
Preparing scientific research and studies, and organizing conferences and seminars in the fields of culture and science.
Supporting the publication and dissemination of printed materials in the fields of culture and science, to be distributed to various regional and international libraries.
Providing sources of knowledge and information in cultural and scientific aspects.
Translating and publishing Omani intellectual output into other languages, and working to monitor and follow up on the most important cultural works and translate them into Arabic.
Supervising some of the royal mosques and taking care of them and their affairs.
Supervising Islamic science institutes, Quran schools, and affiliated libraries.
Managing the Center’s endowment resources, protecting their interests, and developing their resources.
Establishing cultural and scientific cooperation and knowledge with similar institutions outside the Sultanate.
Encouraging and promoting various activities in the fields of culture, arts and literature.
