KFUPM was established in 1963 by a royal decree as the College of Petroleum and Minerals (CPM) to provide higher education and research in the fields of petroleum and minerals.

Recognizing a need for change, we aligned our transformation with Saudi Arabia’s national development plan aimed at diversifying the economy and opening our doors to the world.
We are proud to be a key player in Saudi Arabia’s transition to the new global digital economy. We are ensuring a green and sustainable future for the nation and the world. Our campus is home to over 60 nationalities all working together towards research for the betterment of humanity. We’re making a difference by aligning our research to the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
