Hemşirelik Fakültesi
The College of Nursing was established in Kirkuk on July 23, 2002, and was affiliated with the University of Mosul. It was later dissolved and renamed Kirkuk University after its establishment on January 17, 2003, due to the urgent need for this professional and humanitarian specialty in the province. The college comprises five scientific branches (Basic Sciences, Adult Nursing, Maternal and Newborn Health Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, and Community Health Nursing). The duration of study at the college is four years, with a semester system. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which qualifies them to enter and work in government health institutions and the private health sector. Students are admitted to the college from among graduates of preparatory studies in the scientific branch, the top graduates of the Technical Institute/Nursing Department, and the top graduates of nursing preparatory schools, in accordance with the central admissions system followed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The English language is used for specialized subjects, and our college graduates are used to support health institutions in the province and other Iraqi provinces, enhancing the performance and work of these institutions. The central appointment of graduates is made by the Ministry of Health.
The number of faculty members is (47), and the number of students is (626) for morning studies, (857) for evening studies, and (16) for postgraduate studies for the academic year 2023-2024. Evening studies were introduced at the college for the academic year 2013-2014, and postgraduate studies were introduced in the academic year 2020-2021. The college’s philosophy is based on three fundamental pillars: education, scientific research, and community service. (19) morning study cohorts and two postgraduate studies have graduated, affirming the college’s role in providing quality education.
As for the college’s administration, it operates according to the organizational structure approved by the University of Kirkuk Presidency and in accordance with changes and innovations. The Dean is the head of the pyramid and is responsible for managing the college and all its facilities. A number of deans have managed the college since its establishment until the present stage. The college’s teaching and staff staff strive to build a scientific edifice capable of carrying out the required tasks and providing everything useful to serve the community to highlight the college’s position at the level of the governorate in particular and Iraq in general.
